CONCORD GRAPE & COCOA
A NOTE FROM THE ROASTER
I was super stoked to cup this natural Burundi from our friends at Keffa. The aroma was so intense, I thought the Kool-Aid man was going to burst through the dang wall. If Gahahe had a favorite album it would be Purple Rain. It’s dark fruity notes of Concorde grape, lavender, and cocoa, would’ve made Prince go crazy. So call up Wendy and Lisa and even the crazy dude in the surgeon’s outfit, hop on your purple motorcycle and grab a bag today. Shoot, even Morris Day would have time for it… “Jerome, bring me my mirror.”
Elevation: 1800 – 1900 MASL
Gahahe was built in 1989 in the Kayanza commune and province. The name ‘Gahahe’ comes from the Igihahe trees that were once found in this region. Due to the number of these trees in this region, the Kirundi phrase kubavomere batumisha was used to describe the land, which means ‘always covered in green’. This washing station collects cherries from over 1,250 local coffee farmers spread over the 16 neighboring colonies.
